Enter the Hawks Nest as we head onto our maiden National League voyage!!
Following the 1-0 win over Welling United on Saturday I caught up with the Gaffer Lee Bradbury for his thoughts on that game and the one against East Thurrock United tomorrow.
On Saturday's win the gaffer said that "It was a tense game". "To be fair to Welling they were a tough side to beat, very competitive, big and strong with a lot of good quality and we had to be resiliant and we were."
"There wasn't to many chances for either side even though we started the game quite well. Theo Lewis had a header early doors and they had a couple headed over late on but great saves by Ryan Young to keep us in the game a 0-0. Really good performance and really pleased."
"It was certainly one of the best performances we've come up against. They are there or thereabouts for a reason, their a tough nut to crack, have a good team and going forwards they have some real pace and the diamond was a difficult system to come up against."
"To come here at this stage of the season and win was important, I said to the lads if we keep playing like that I think we will be right up there. We need to keep grinding those performances out."
I asked Lee whether all 12 points from the last 4 games was the target. "Of course we are going to go for all 12, but we have got some tough games but so have Dartford. All we can do is concentrate on the next game which is East Thurrock."
"We've overachieved anyway no matter what happens and I think the players have got to relax and enjoy it and embrace the situation which they they've put themselves in and keep working as hard as they did for each other as they did today."
And moving onto tomorrow night's clash with East Thurrock what does the gaffer expect from the Rocks who beat Truro at the weekend. "They were one of the hardest sides we came up against when we played up there. They played very well. They have a really good goalscorer in Sam Higgins who's top goalscorer in the league in a team that are mid table so he's going to be a real threat but we've got a lot that can hurt them the other way we will have to wait and see, it will be a tough game."
"They are going to have a say in the rest of the season as they also have Dartford to play as well."
And the gaffer hopes for another big following at Westleigh Park tomorow night. "We had a good amount on Saturday, hopefully we sent them home happy, made them happy over the weekend and just come and get round us as much as you can on Tuesday."
