Paul Doswell has moved quickly to fill the void left by Shaun Gale by appointing Simon Walton to the coaching set up.

“It was a real surprise when Shaun informed me that he was leaving all his roles at the club as I had only had a conversation about pre season with him the day before l left for a family holiday. He’s been a brilliant servant to the club and someone I’ve always had the upmost respect in Football and as a friend.

"He achieved numerous successes at Havant and Waterlooville as a player and a manager culminating in that amazing game against Liverpool at Anfield.I wish him all the best of luck in his new ventures and I’m sure it won’t be long before he’s back in football.

"However this has led to an opportunity for Simon Walton to come into the coaching set up under Ian Baird and I’m sure he will flourish in his joint role as player coach.Initially we were signing Simon solely to play but I feel with the experience he gained last year at Maidstone and the younger players we have at our disposal the timing seems right with Shaun’s departure."

In other player news Paul has confirmed that the squad is now very much in place.

"We have secured all of our original targets and I’m delighted where we are at this moment of time. A number of players contracts don’t finish till the end of June so it’s normal in Football to wait until July 1st to announce  them officially.

"We have however also secured another quality signing and this can be announced next week when the player returns from holiday.
In total we now have a contracted first team squad of 16 players and I have invited three very talented younger players from the local scene to come into pre season and try and earn themselves a deal with the club.

"It’s a very important part of our strategy moving forward that the best young players are given a chance through daytime training to flourish and Benny Read is a prime example of this. We have a real wealth of experience in this squad complimented by some very good young players in Alfie Rutherford, Jonah Ayunga, Marley Ridge ,Bradley Tarbuck and Benny and I’m looking forward to working with them come Thursday 27th June when we report back for pre season.”
