After last Saturday's disappointing result against a very strong Portsmouth team, Lee Bradbury will be looking to make amends today. Mike Carter was named in the starting 11 but pulled up in the warm up, he will be replaced by George Barker. We welcome back to Westleigh Park 2 ex HAWKS players Nic Ciardini and Josh Huggins.
As often is the case this early in pre season both sides look short of match fitness resulting in a rather scrappy first 15 minutes, the HAWKS have the edge resulting in a superb effort from Theo Lewis with just the upright denying him the opener. 20 minutes in and Farnborough have a half chance as Connor Calcutt takes a pot shot from 20 yards straight into the arms of Ryan Young. with 26 minutes on the clock Jason Prior heads home from close range, the referee saw an infringement and disallows the goal. 6 minutes later and another close range effort from Ed Harris is turned behind for a HAWKS corner. With 6 minutes remaining Havant and Waterlooville have a free kick 30 yards out, Rory Williams strikes a sweet shot to the top left hand corner, Luke Carney parries the ball straight to Jason Prior his effort strikes the post and the woodwork saves the Borough again. As the whistle goes for the half time interval Havant and Waterlooville will be disappointed not be in the lead.

Havant and Waterlooville take to the pitch with renewed energy with 4 minutes gone Theo Lewis srikes a shot from 20 yards which the Borough keeper gathers. 2 minutes later HAWKS earn a free kick 20 yards out, George Barker bends his shot around the wall with Luke Carney pulling off a superb save, the ball finds Jason Prior who heads home from the far post to give the HAWKS a deserved 1-0 lead. Havant and Waterlooville very much on top in the second half, on the hour mark Bradley Tarbuck strikes a fizzing volley from the edge of the area which skims the post. First substitution as James Hayter makes way for Alfie Rutherford, 62 minutes in George Barker draws a foul on the edge of the box, Rory williams effort just to high. Approaching 70 minutes George Barker is brought down in the Borough box by Tashan Hayden-Smith leaving Jason Prior to fire home low and hard from the spot to get his second of the match and double the HAWKS lead. George Barker is replaced by the exciting trialist Hatoto Yoshida also the crowd applaud as Matt Tubbs takes to the field for his debut replacing Bradley Tarbuck, keepers are swapped as Ryan Young is subbed for Alan Walker Harris. Walker-Harris is called into action straight away as a rare HAWKS defensive error puts through Borough's Patrick Ruzicka one on one with the HAWKS keeper, Walker-Harris pulls off a sublime double save to keep the HAWKS clean sheet in tact. With just 10 minutes remaining Havant and Waterlooville continue to press, a long ball finds Matt Tubbs he chests the ball down turns and shoots from 20 yards straight at the Farnborough stopper. Farnborough come close in the closing moments as a close range effort is blocked and cleared by Rory Williams. The final whistle is blown and the HAWKS come out deserved 2-0 winners.
