Brian is an experienced Football League player who started his career at Bournemouth in 2000. Over six years with the Cherries he played 145 games before going on loan to Preston North End, with whom he then signed for a short stint in 2006. Brian’s next move was to Doncaster Rovers in January 2007, having spent the start of the 2006/07 season there on loan from Preston.
Brian played a vital role in Doncaster's 2007–08 promotion season. He filled in as captain for Doncaster in the final two months of the season and captained the side in their play-off final victory over Leeds United at Wembley, having scored the first goal from the penalty spot against Southend in the semi-finals. Brian is known for possessing a deadly long range shot and is a composed penalty taker.
On 17 March 2008, Stock was called up for the Wales team for the friendly match against Luxembourg, although he did not actually play in the match. He has also represented the Wales Under-21 team. Stock made his Wales debut on 9 September 2009, in a World Cup Qualifying match at home to Russia.
In all, Brian played almost 200 games for Doncaster over six seasons before moving to Burnley in 2012, and then to the Hawks in September 2014. He quickly become a core member of the midfield, from where he made 36 starts last season.
