Havant and Waterlooville

By Les Hyson (@les61hawk)

Havant and Waterlooville's academy side crashed out of The FA Youth Cup following a 3-1 defeat to a well drilled Moneyfields side at Westleigh Park.

The Hawks started the game which was fairly even for the first 15 minutes, with both defences looking strong.

The first real chance came in the 22nd minute when Monies Danny Burroughs was put through on goal but his shot was saved by Oliver Eyres in the Hawks goal.

Three minutes later Monies Jacob Payne beat 3 Hawks defenders on the left wing and his cross was headed over by Spencer Mitchell.

This seemed to ignite the Hawks who won a free kick outside the box.

From the resulting free kick Hawks number 9 Tom Seve headed straight at Monies keeper George Gardiner.

The Hawks started to press and in the 30th minute James Rankin unleashes a 30 yard effort which had the Monies keeper getting down quickly to his right to save.

In the 36th minute Monies took the lead when Rhys Lloyd cut inside 2 hawks defenders and his shot beat Gardiner.

Monies continued to push forward for the rest of the half, with the Hawks defence holding firm.

Monies started the 2nd half and continued to press forward but it was the Hawks that scored the games 2nd goal.

Marvin Orepo won the ball on the left hand side, beat 2 defenders and hit a cross shot which was hammered home from 3 yards by Tom Seve.

Within 3 minutes Monies had regained the lead when Spencer Mitchell was fouled just outside the Hawks box, Danny Burroughs floated in the free kick witch was headed home by the Monies Captain Alfie Davies.

Monies continued to push forward and scored a third from the penalty spot after Brendon Cox was bought down in the box.

Danny Burroughs took the kick which Hawks Keeper Eyres got a hand to but could not keep it out.

Monies continued to push forward but the Hawks defence held firm.

In the 90th minute the ref issued his first booking of the game to Monies Jacob Payne for kicking the ball away after being caught offside.
