Young, a Hawks legend, has decided that it was best for him to continue playing regular football.
Ryan Young joined Havant and Waterlooville in 2014 and was a pivotal part of our back to back promotion winning side in 2017 & 2018 with some of his saves instrumental in keeping crucial clean sheets last season.
However over recent weeks Ben Dudzinski has been the number 1 choice in the league and understandably ‘Youngy’ would like to continue playing as first choice ‘keeper.
Following the news, Hawks boss Lee Bradbury was full of praise for who he feels is "problably the best" keeper that the Hawks have ever had:
“I’m devastated that Ryan Young’s leaving us after a great time with us.
He was a great goalkeeper, probably the best goalkeeper that the club possibly has ever had but is finding it frustrating being 37 and wanting to play games and I get that at this stage in his career and he wants to number 1 which he deserves to be.
To show the measure of the man he is, he could have easily sat there and took the money but signed off and hasn’t cost the club anything and he can leave holding his head up high.”
Everyone at the club would like to thank Ryan for his continued loyalties to the Hawks over the past 4 years and thank him for his continued commitment to the club and wish him all the best moving forward.
