Havant and Waterlooville FC were delighted to be invited to Solent University today by former Portsmouth, Blackburn and England coaching expert Chris Neville for a guided tour of the University’s fantastic sports science facilities.

Chris, who holds a position as faculty of sport, health and social sciences at Solent University along with his high level sport science and strength and conditioning experience has agreed to kindly assist Paul Doswell and Ian Baird bring the Hawks squad into tip top shape and fitness in preparation for the upcoming 2021/2022 Vanarama National League season.

Today saw introductions with Louis Langdown, course leader in Football Science and Sport Science and Performance Coaching to Scott Munro, our Performance Analyst and Jake Travis, our newly appointed Head Physiotherapist.  They were shown state-of-the-art equipment based on campus that will be utilised for measuring the performance of the squad along with the University’s exceptional rehabilitation centre.

The partnership will continue to grow with opportunities for a number of Solent University internships becoming available at the football club within various departments including, Physiotherapy, Performance and Analysis and Media.

Commercial and Marketing Manager, Charlotte Chandler met with Graham Hiley, Associate Lecturer in Broadcast and Journalism to discuss the wider opportunities within the media team that would facilitate beneficial work experience for Solent students.

Paul Doswell said; “It’s really a win win partnership where we give extremely valuable work experience to the students, and we benefit from world class rehabilitation facilities for our injured players. With Chris Neville’s involvement within the team now, we also have a great conduit between us and the university.”

It’s the start of an incredibly exciting partnership for the club and the first of its kind, highlighting one of the many positive steps the club has taken in the recent months to better position themselves for the upcoming 2021/2022.
