Havant and Waterlooville are delighted to announce the signing of Paul Rooney ahead of the 2021/22 campaign after he left Dover Athletic.

Rooney started his career in Ireland with St Patrick’s Athletic before moving to English football with League One side Millwall in 2015.

Despite not making an appearance for the Lions, the Irishman had stints at Torquay, Bromley and Billericay Town before settling at the Crabble Stadium with Dover, where he made 21 appearances before his recent departure.

After joining the club, he said; “It’s really good to be here, it’s been a long time coming back into a football environment and I’m very happy to get going.”

Paul Doswell said; “He’s one of our main targets this season. We felt we needed his ability but also his good presence on the pitch, his passing range is very very good. We’re very ambitious in terms of what we’re trying to achieve, we know it’s not going to be easy, but I think with the quality of the likes of Rooney, it’s going to help.”

Everyone at the Hawks are delighted to welcome Paul Rooney to the team.
