New signing Josh Taylor felt the opportunity of joining Havant and Waterlooville was one which he couldn’t let pass by.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Hawks on Thursday, saw the lure of teaming up with the managment team and the wider project around Westleigh Park as one too good to refuse.

Taylor will be coming to the club with a point to prove after being released from Sutton over the summer and is looking to give his career a big boost after signing for Havant.

In his first interview with the club, he said: “I’m very excited to be here.

“After I found out I was good to leave Sutton and with all the changes going on around here it looks like it could be a very promising season,

“You see all the players we’ve signed and we’re favourites with the bookies so I grabbed the opportunity when it came.”

One of the key reasons for making Westleigh Park his home for the coming season was to team up once more with Paul Doswell and Ian Baird, a pair he knows very well from his days at Gander Green Lane.

“They gave me my first contract when I came back from America and I loved it my first season especially at Sutton we had a great time.

“So hopefully we can recreate what we did in our first season (winning the National League South) and have some success here.”

Despite the raging hot temperatures, Josh was pleased to get back on the training field, even if the hot weather took its toll.

“It’s typical the weather’s not been too great and once we start doing some running it’s absolutely boiling.” Joked Taylor.

“The boys fitness seemed good on the Thursday it was mainly running and today it was good to get the balls out and play and I think everyone is buzzing to get back playing again.”
