A light drizzle did not deter 6 competitive walking football teams enjoying the Many Shades of Grey Walking Football Festival on Sunday 13 October 2019 at Park Community School.

Pompey ITC, Godalming, Bognor Regis Boulders, Retro Rangers, Gosport Neanderthals, and our very own Many Shades of Grey were the combatants. This was a very close competition with 10 of the 15 games decided by one goal.

Feedback from all the teams was very positive regarding the organization, competitiveness and fair play during the afternoon. These are the results:

1 – Pompey ITC Pl 5, Won 5, 15 points

2 – Retro Rangers Pl 5, Won 3, 9 points

3 – Godalming Pl 5, Won 3, 9 points (3rd having been beaten 1-0 by Retro Rangers)

4 – Many Shades of Grey Pl 5, Won 2, 6 points

5 – Gosport Pl 5, Won 1, Drew 1, 4 points

6 – Bognor Pl 5, Won 0, Drew 1, 1 point

Many Shades of Grey (MSG) were represented by; Geoff Barfield, Richie Bishop, Dave Hall, Colin Campbell, Dave Rowbrey, Jeff Pickering, Joe Mair, and Tony Elliott. Goal scorers for MSG were Richie Bishop (2) and Dave Hall (1). Special mention must be made of Dave Rowbrey who was a star performer all afternoon in goal and made some spectacular saves to keep his team in the game. Needless to say, the buffet was as exceptional as ever and enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to the referees, John Morgan, Blake and Dave Lester, resplendent in a lime green outfit, for maintaining a good standard of officialdom.

One member of MSG was sorely missed on Sunday. This was the first MSG Festival Stewart Russell was unable to attend. Many players from all the involved teams asked after Stewart during the afternoon which shows the high regard and respect that he has in the Walking Football arena.
