The Hawks booked their place in the third round of the Hampshire Senior Cup with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Winchester City.

Goals are starting to flow for Havant. Six goals scored tonight means Paul Doswell’s men have 11 in their last two outings, heading into the tough trip to St Albans on Saturday.

Manny Adebowale, Tommy Wright, Sam Magri, Alex Wall, Scott Rendell and James Roberts late on sealed an enjoyable night under the lights for the Hawks at the Draper Tools Community Stadium.

Match Action

Manny Adebowale found the net just three minutes into this one. A left-sided free-kick from James Roberts caused confusion and Adebowale rose highest to nod the ball into the bottom corner following a deflection.

The Hawks doubled their advantage five minutes later through the returning Tommy Wright. The striker found the net with a fine effort from outside the area after good play down the right.

Havant were beginning to run riot after 20 minutes and extended their lead further when defender Sam Magri ran the length of the pitch down the right. The full-back played a lovely one-two with Abdulai Baggie to get into the Citizens’ box, and he finished with aplomb past Ryan Pryce.

It wasn’t long before the hosts made it four as birthday boy Alex Wall continued his goal scoring form. Pryce mis-judged a Roberts cross from the left and the ball fell to Wall to smash into the top left corner.

The visitors were still unable to cope with the Hawks in the second-half as the chances kept coming. Baggie should have added to his side’s tally when he found himself one-on-one with Pryce. The winger tried placing it past the keeper, but could only find Pryce’s gloves.

Joe Newton was the next player to try his luck. The left-back found himself in a rather unusual central position outside the Winchester area, but his effort clipped the crossbar on its way over.

The Hawks did get their fifth on 72 minutes through substitute Scott Rendell. The striker found himself unmarked in the Winchester area and as the ball came in from the left he gobbled up the chance, tucking home.

It would be six on the night for the Hawks when Roberts, who had been excellent all evening, got in on the act. The winger found himself on the right-hand-side following a corner, he took on his man before finding the net with a powerful near-post effort.

After two comfortable Cup games, the Hawks now get back into league action as they travel to St Albans on Saturday.
