Jonah Ayunga made it two braces from two games as Havant and Waterlooville defeated Bognor Regis Town 3-1 at Nyewood Lane. 

Ayunga, who scored twice against Alresford, netted once in both halves to help the Hawks to victory over the Rocks.

Josh Taylor also got his name on the scoresheet in the opening period as the Hawks made it two wins from two with an assured performance.

It was a similar set-up to the opening friendly with changes being made throughout the encounter to get everyone minutes.

Havant started the game the brighter of the two sides and came close just five minutes in when Josh Taylor played the ball into the path of Roarie Deacon, who from 12 yards out volleyed the ball narrowly over.

Four minutes later it was Taylor who had an effort on goal after the instrumental Ayunga played the ball across the box from the right hand flank before his curling effort went just wide of goal.

Andy Drury was the next to come close for the Hawks as his curling effort went just over the bar from six yards out.

The Hawks would break the deadlock after just 20 minutes after good build up play saw the ball played into the path of Jonah Ayunga who from around six yards out drilled the ball into the bottom right corner.

And then came the onslaught from Paul Doswell’s side with two decent efforts in the space of two minutes. The first of which came from Roarie Deacon when he had a go from the edge of the box with his effort saved by ex Hawks ‘keeper Charlie Searle, before seconds later Jonah Ayunga left the Bognor defence for dead before firing his effort just over.

With just over five minutes to go until the interval the lead was doubled when Josh Taylor netted for the first time this season when Ayunga’s initial effort from inside the area hit the post before he fired home from close range.

HALF-TIME: Bognor 0-2 Hawks

Havant kicked off the second half with the same vigour and intensity as the first, and they made it three just minutes after the restart.

It was Ayunga who sealed his brace with a blistering run towards the penalty area before turning past his man and slotting the ball into the back of the net from six yards out to make it 3-1 to the Hawks and leave the Rocks with a mountain to climb.

Two minutes later it was almost four when Roarie Deacon hit the post from close range before Fogden’s rebound was parried by Charlie Searle.

Eight minutes later Deacon again was involved in the action as Ayunga teed up the ex Sutton man on the edge of the penalty area before having his shot deflected.

Marley Ridge came on just before the hour mark and made an instant impact as he got himself in a decent position inside the penalty area before heading the ball just over.

With just over a quarter of an hour remaining Bognor pulled one back as Tommy Leigh made a good run before heading the ball home from six yards out after a cross in from the right hand side.

And with just under five minutes left, Academy player Marvin Orepo, who was given a run out alongside two others, had a shot from close range but his effort went over the bar.

A good performance from the Hawks as they gear up for their annual pre-season friendly against Portsmouth at Westleigh Park on Saturday.
