About Match

Chelmsford City 2 Hawks 3

A poor Hawks first half meant Chelmsford went into the break one to the good, but a 13 minute second half hattrick for Jake McCarthy was enough to clinch three points.

Match Action:

First Half

Hawks piled on pressure early on but the first chance came after just 5 minutes as Morgan shot from distance and skimmed the bar.

Chelmsford’s pressure continued as the home side took the lead with a cool and calm finish into the bottom left corner.

Paul Rooney picked up a yellow card for a late challenge on Tom Dickens.

Towards the end of the half, Hawks’ best chance came from Magri as he had a right footed effort tipped over the bar.

Jake McCarthy got a caution for a similar challenge to Paul Rooney’s.

The last chance of the half came from Chelmsford’s Sherringham but the strike was straight at Will Mannion.

Second Half

The words said at half time definitely had some impact on the side as early pressure was non top from the Hawks with a close range header from Rendell.

Hawks drew level when Jake McCarthy fired from outside the box out of nowhere and it goes in off the palm of Dillon.

Jake McCarthy got his brace in the 62nd minute when he flicked a header into the bottom corner from a Billy Clifford cross.

McCarthy showed his magic on Halloween weekend as he got his first Hawks hattrick. Baggie creates the goal as he runs through a number of players, clips the ball back into the box and McCarthy volleys it home!

Chelmsford got a late goal from a Simeon Jackson tap in but it wasn’t enough. Final score: Chelmsford City FC 2, Hawks 3.
