Chippenham Town 1 HAWKS 0
Both teams came into this one unbeaten in the league so far, but it was a disappointing day at the office for the Hawks as they fell to their first defeat in a 1-0 loss to Chippenham Town.
In a game which saw the number of yellow cards reach double figures, it was a dis-jointed affair where neither were able to gather real momentum.
A Will Richards header two minutes before the break was enough to secure the three points for the home side, as Paul Doswell’s team struggled to test Will Henry in between the Bluebirds’ sticks all afternoon.
The opening stages saw both teams see a lot of the ball however, neither team were able to create a notable chance. Ross Stearn tested Worner after cutting in from the left hand side on 12 minutes, his low driven effort was comfortably held by the Hawks’ number one.
James Roberts went close to break the dead-lock midway through the first-half, after Oscar Gobern cleverly pulled the ball back to him on the edge of the area. Roberts could only drag his shot well wide of the target.
It was the hosts who took the lead moments before the interval when Will Richards got free from Manny Adebowale, to meet Stearn’s dangerous corner. The defender guided the ball into the corner past a helpless Worner.

The Hawks started the second half the better of the two teams. Roberts, Tommy Wright and Joe Newton all had chances in the opening stages, however all three failed to hit the target.
Substitutes Alex Wall and Abdulai Baggie linked up well down the right on 68 minutes, but the chance went begging as miscontrol from the winger saw the ball dribble out for a goal-kick.
Josh Passley was introduced at the break for the away side and was instrumental in their play down the right. Late on, the wing-back took on his man before firing a ball across goal. But striker Alex Wall failed to get the ball out of his feet and lash home.
It’s a game to forget for the Hawks, as they now prepare for a tough test on Saturday when they visit Ebbsfleet United.
