It was the perfect end to a great preseason for The Hawks as they added yet another win to list. Goals from Roarie Deacon and Josh Taylor was enough to earn the win for the hosts as eyes begin to look at the season ahead.
A strong defensive display from the backline managed to keep a dangerous Eastleigh attack at bay as they enjoyed another clean sheet.
Paul Doswell will hope that his squad will be able to take their impressive form into the upcoming season as they look to start with a bang against Welling United.
The Hawks went into the game with an unchanged line up from last weeks clash against Sutton United. Wes Fogden led The Hawks out for the last preseason game of the season at Westleigh Park.
It was the visitors who started the game the better of the two sides as they were knocking the ball around the midfield with confidence and creating some promising opportunities.
Nicky Bailey showed his defensive quality seven minutes into the game with a goal saving sliding block amidst an Eastleigh goal mouth scramble.
It wasn’t long after when Eastleigh created another chance which required all of Ross Worner’s tall frame to claw the ball out of the top corner as a cross looked as if it was going to loop over his head into the far corner of the goal.
The next chance to fall The Spitfires way was a one on one for number nine Scott Rendell who failed to convert after Worner came sprinting off his line to smother the chance.
The Hawks managed to change the momentum 15 minutes before half time as a flurry of chances came their way.
Five minutes later the continued pressure took its toll on the Eastleigh defence as a cross from captain Fogden fell to the feet of winger Roarie Deacon who took a nice touch before firing the ball into the bottom left corner.
The goal was enough to send The Hawks into the break with the advantage.
HALF-TIME: Havant and Waterlooville 1-0 Eastleigh
The Hawks continued the second half as they ended the first, creating goal scoring opportunities. Some great passing was being shown by the hosts however they struggled to break through the stubborn Spitfire defence.
As everyone in Westleigh Park would have seen it was a classic preseason second half. Both sides were winding down during the second 45 minutes with the long season just a week away.
The Hawks did their best to create chances though and finally one was converted two minutes before the final whistle as Josh Taylor who started the game was played through on goal with a perfectly waited pass.
Taylor took the ball in his stride before neatly lifting the ball over the keeper who dived at his feet into the top left corner.
It was the perfect send off for the team who will know embark on a journey around the south coast with the hopes of being promoted back up into the National League.
