McCarthy, 27, joined the Hawks in 2021 from then National League Premier side Weymouth. Jake started out his career in the Youth System of AFC Bournemouth before a loan move to Maidstone United in 2016/17 gave him his first experience in senior football in the National League Premier at just 20. Following his loan move to Maidstone, McCarthy would join Weymouth permanently, a club where he would play for 4 years. Jake was a part of the Weymouth squad that won Promotion to the National League via the Play-Offs in 2019/20. After a season with Weymouth in the National League Premier, McCarthy made the switch to the Hawks where he has made over 100 appearances during his time in Hampshire.
