From the Manager

Hawks manager Paul Doswell was pleased to get the victory against a tough Bath City side.

The hosts walked away with a 2-1 victory over the Romans at Westleigh Park in a fiery clash in The National League South.

The win also puts the Hawks five points of the pace at the top of the table.

Despite being pleased with the win, Doswell also knows the perspective the victory should be put in.

He said: “I’m delighted to get the win.

“Perhaps we got the luck that we didn’t get last week, we thoroughly deserved to beat Slough with the ref intervening.

“I thought Bath were a very good side and we were lucky to get the win in many regards.

“They created six or seven really good chances and if I was their manager I would be disappointed that they didn’t get anything out of the game and probably win the game.”

Doswell also felt the luck which in the past at Westleigh had deserted them paid the Hawks a very welcome visit.

“We’ve probably been due at home a little bit of fortune, and I think we got that today because we only really played the last half hour of the game.

“From minute 60 to minute 90 we looked a threat; they struggled to cope with us for that half an hour, but before that it was difficult.

“I thought their number 4 was a fantastic player, their six Artus controlled the game in many regards.

“But a big change in direction from 60 minutes onwards we played three at the back, got the width from Bradley Tarbuck and Anthony Straker and bringing Alfie in alongside Jonah with Keds in that number 10 role, it changed the game I thought.

“In the end if Keds scored that it would have been 3-1 and would have been a great way to finish and harsh of them.”
