From the Manager

Paul Doswell is looking to extend the Hawks’ unbeaten away league record when they make the visit to Concord Rangers in The National League South (15:00).

Havant and Waterlooville have dropped just eight points on their travels so far this season, and Doswell is hoping those fortunes can continue on Canvey Island at the weekend.

With a weeks break in between games, the Hawks have enjoyed a welcome break in between games.

That recovery time means that from a squad on its bare bones last weekend away to Chippenham, some players have been given time to nurse injuries.

Speaking about the game on Saturday at the Aspect Arena, the Hawks boss said: “It was disappointing to see Liverpool beat West Ham on Wednesday Night as that would have left us as the last team in the top six leagues unbeaten away.

“It’s been a brilliant run away from home so far this season, but I’ve got to say it’s going to be a tough game away to Concord on Saturday, who are in good form and got an excellent win at Bath, so we need to go there, put in a good performance and get the three points.

“Danny’s gone in there and is another good manager who’s come to Concord, they were very close to the play-offs last year and I still think they can edge towards 7th, so they won’t have given up on that and they’re in the last 16 of the FA Trophy now so for them it’s an excellent season.”

The Hawks boss knows that the away form so far this season has proved vital in seeing them in a race for promotion.

“If we’re being honest about it has been the poor form at home at times which has seen needing to keep winning away and thankfully we’ve been able to do that.

“What normally happens is that the home form is very good and you don’t do so well away but we’ve managed to reverse that this year and if we can carry it on (our success away) that would be great.”

Doswell is also pleased with how well new signing Bedsente Gomis has settled in with the squad and is excited about what he can offer the side.

“We’ve always been looking this last month or so with the injuries that we have had and the fact that the squad was getting slightly smaller all the time.

“But it was important to bring in the right person which was why I was patient with this one and I think the supporters will really like what he brings to the table, he’s a box to box midfielder and he will try his best every single game.”
