Havant & Waterlooville take one step closer to the promising 2020/21 season as they travel to Grosvenor Vale to take on Wealdstone in a preseason friendly.

The Hawks have endured a pre-season filled with ups and downs as after four matches they have won two and lost two. Paul Doswell’s men were on fire in their first two games since returning to action, however performance levels seemed to drop off in their last two outings.

Following a loss to National League side Weymouth, the squad travelled to Gosport Borough in an attempt to get back to winning ways against a lower division side. However, unfortunately for the visitors they failed to ever really get going and they fell to another defeat in a math which ended 1-0.

Despite this, the side have shown really good spells of play and with some of the youth and trialists getting game time the next National League South campaign is set up promisingly.

In the last game against Boro, the home side took the lead before half time and it was former Hawk Bradley Tarbuck who created the chance and got the assist for his new Club, a goal which was to be the deciding moment.

The hosts for Saturday’s game have been a part of a jammed schedule as they prepare for the National League after promotion last season. They have already played seven games, from which they have taken a respectable three wins.

In their last outing the Wealdstone side really found their goalscoring touch as they put five past a Hayes & Yeading side who managed to bag themselves two.

Nevertheless, it is a huge chance to get the confidence flowing back amongst The Hawks squad and a great opportunity for Doswell to put his side, packed full of new faces, up to the test of high quality opponents.
