Teaching and Learning

We provide players with an excellent opportunity to analyse and focus on their game management and awareness. This is supported by the introduction of SportMast for the 2016/17 season. Located 7.5 meters above the training ground, the telescopic camera provides a great basis for sports analysis which is then converted to a software package and made available to players for both personal reviews, and to support with assignment tasks.

Other partners who utilise SportMast technology include; Football Association, Portsmouth FC, Rugby Football Union and Lawn Tennis Association. Each member of the squad will play for one of the academy teams, playing home and away fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon.

Our Academy is based on site and we have our very own state of the art 4G astro turf which we use for both training (5 hours a week) and matches on a daily basis. As well as the astro turf facility we have our fitness centre and sports hall. This consists of a range of fitness equipment used to enhance the performance of our athletes.

Offsite we have West Leigh Park, home of Havant and Waterlooville Football Club. Our first team players have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the Clubs ground as Academy players to Havant and Waterlooville Football Club.

Work experience will be carried out in both the first year and second year of study and students will have an opportunity to develop key vocational and work-related skills.

The course will give the student the opportunity to visit a number of local universities to support academic study and progression. The course will also give the student an opportunity to visit some of the most well-known football stadiums in the country on trips.

Practical Assessments are also undertaken.

We hope this has given you a good insight to the course undertaken in conjunction with HSDC College!
