MATCH REPORT

After a steady start it was Tom Blair who had the first opportunity to put the Hawks in front, he latched onto Innocent’s cross but it was wide of the mark.

Worner was called into action a few moments later, and he pulled off a brilliant save with a strong left hand to deny Sibley at the near post.

Both sides were getting to grips to the game in the first half, with little notable action inside the opening 25 minutes.

James Roberts tried unlocking some magic with his right foot, but his ranged effort skimmed the post.

McCarthy fired the Hawks into the lead on the 40th minute mark. Despite having options either side of him, he drove at his marker and slotted it past Grant in net.

The first half came to a close with the Hawks in the lead.

Kealy had the ball in the back of the net when he ran through on goal, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted it home but it was pulled back, we think, for offside.

James Roberts doubled our lead and it was thanks to Tom Blair. His press forced Horndean into a mistake, squared the ball to Roberts who beat Scott in goal.

Willson had a chance to make it three but his header was well saved by the ‘keeper. Trialists Busari and Steadman came on for the Hawks, as well as Baker.

They both made an instant impact when Busari laid a shot off to Steadman, but it flew past the post.

Chad Field tried to write headlines with a ranged strike but it flew over the bar and didn’t trouble Worner.

Mohammed-Kier and Woolston came on for some minutes. Mohammed-Kier almost had a chance to score with his first touch but his header was deflected wide. Moments later, he was set up by McCarthy but couldn’t quite get his volley on target.
