About Match

Moneyfields got the Hawks’ pre-season underway with a clash at Westleigh Park.

MATCH ACTION

The Hawks had the first sniff of action out of the two sides, Deacon and Roberts both had their strikes saved by McGeorge.

Nothing had really tested any ‘keeper inside 15 minutes, but it was McCarthy to open the scoring. He nodded Deacon’s corner past McGeorge and into the bottom corner.

Moneyfields soon levelled the scores, Bridgeman stayed cool, calm and collective to slot it past Worner.

A couple of the Hawks trialists had an attempt on goal but neither tested the hands of McGeorge.

The second half came to a close all square.

HT – Hawks 1, Moneyfields 1

It took just three minutes for the Hawks to take the lead again, Baker capitalised on a mistake and slot it past McGeorge with ease.

Moments later, magic from Ansu Janneh unlocked Mo Faal who had time on the left hand side to square it across goal and find trialist Dan Gifford who made it three.

It’s fair to say Gifford made an impression, as he came inches away from scoring a second when his acrobatic leap flew just past him.

Ex-academy star Leon Baker got his second when Kai Innocent took on his man to hang a good cross at the back post. Blair got on the end of it and nodded the ball into Baker who could smash it home.

A minute later, a corner for the Hawks was headed in by skipper Joe Oastler at the back post.

The action stelled down, Faal had a strike from six yards swatted away by McGeorge.

Following an injury for Moneys, the game came to an end slightly early and the Hawks were victorious in their first pre-season outing.
