Havant and Waterlooville FC can confirm that they have sold Jonah Ayunga to Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

Ayunga finished joint top scorer in The National League South last term, netting 17 times in 30 league games helping him secure a move to the Gas.

Manager Paul Doswell, commented, “This is a fantastic move for Jonah and this move completely shows the principal of the Club and myself as to what we’re trying to do for our younger players that we bring in.

“Every young player who signs here is encouraged to further their football career and into league football. Jonah’s improvement this year and his contribution to the team has been outstanding.

“I’m delighted he’s been given the opportunity to play league football once again, and it just goes to show that if you’re prepared to work hard and commit as Jonah has done this season, then in life you’ll always get another opportunity.

“We have a firm recruitment policy with young players that when they sign for us we will always encourage them to play at the highest level of football possible, and one of our jobs is to improve these players and give them that opportunity that so many desire.

“The supporters can rest assured that I’m working day and night to bring in the next two or three younger players that will hopefully follow Jonah’s path into a real good EFL move.”

Ayunga wanted to state his farewell to the club, saying: “Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved with Havant and Waterlooville.

“I’ve really enjoyed both my stints at the club so thank you to the fans, players and staff for making that possible. For obvious reasons out of anyone’s control this season was cut short and after a long break ended in disappointment, I think we all feel had the season continued on as normal we would’ve had a really good chance of gaining automatic promotion.

“I’d like to say a special thank you to the management, board members and chairman for allowing me to pursue my ambitions of playing in the football league and giving me the platform and opportunity to get myself there.

“I wish everyone involved in the club all the best for the upcoming season, hopefully you get back to where you belong.”
