Havant & Waterlooville start their 2020/21 FA Cup campaign against Horsham in the second qualifying round at Westleigh Park on Sunday.

The Hawks are set to make their long-awaited return to competitive football since a disappointing end to last campaign, and a promising preseason run.

Paul Doswell’s men have not played a match since mid-September due to some of the schedule preseason clashes being postponed.

The last game played from The Hawks is one they will want to put behind them on Sunday after falling to a defeat against National League side Wealdstone.

Despite the poor result, there was many positive aspects about the performance as many players on the fringe of the first team were given minutes on the pitch.

Nevertheless, with preseason now in the rear view all focus will be on making it into the next round of the FA Cup with the hopes of starting a run to remember.

The visitors will be going into Saturday with a similar run of form behind them although already having started their league season, something The Hawks have yet to do.

Match sharpness could be vital for the away side, but they will hope in a drastic shift in performance after falling short at home against Bognor Regis Town by a slender score line of 1-0.

Dominic di Paola will no doubt know what it will mean to the club if his team was to prevail on the weekend, with qualification sure to bolster the mood around the whole camp following the league failure.

Doswell will be sure to want to get the best out of his squad which is packed full of new faces and get the clubs competitive season off to a great start.
