From the Manager

Havant and Waterlooville First Team Coach Simon Walton will take Cray Valley Paper Mills as seriously as a team in The National League South.

The Hawks were handed a home draw against the Step 4 side in the televised First Round draw last night. A home tie was always the preferred option, and now with one, the Hawks will want to make the most of it.

Walton said: “It’s always good to get a home draw especially in the first round of the FA Cup. We know this is a tough tie and one we can’t take lightly, they’ve beaten three teams in higher leagues than them and came from 2-0 down to beat Maidenhead on Saturday.

“There’s a similarity with Chatham who have a good side, well funded, and should be treated in the same way as a side in The National League South. We will give Cray Valley Paper Mills the utmost respect just like we do with every other team that we play, it will not be a game we take lightly.

“But we feel if we take the game seriously, keep our professionalism and keep up the same standards which we have done throughout the season, we believe we can give ourselves a great opportunity to reach the second round of the FA Cup which for this Football Club would be a massive achievement.”
