The FA Cup is back! Last year, the Hawks’ cup run culminated with a trip to the capital to face League One opposition, Charlton Athletic. The Hawks did well to hold on until the 70th minute, but it was four late goals which crashed the Hawks out of the cup. The First Round Proper is always a brilliant achievement for non-league clubs.This year, the Hawks face local rivals AFC Totton in the second round qualifying round. The Stags won their first round qualifying with an impressive 9-2 victory. Lots of familiar faces visit the Draper Tools Community Stadium: Scott Rendell, Mike Green, Mike Carter to name a few.The Hawks host AFC Totton following a solid 4-1 win at home against struggling Hungerford Town. McCarthy, Prior, Faal and Kalinauskas were all on the scoresheet to see off the Crusaders. This will be the Hawks’ first cup game of the 22/23 season, and they will be hoping to match last year’s run.The last time the two sides met was in pre-season, the Hawks cruised to a 5-1 victory in the Snows Stadium, but it has been a few months, both sides have gelled, so it will be an interesting matchup.
