It’s the second of the festive double header as the Hawks face Eastbourne Borough, this time in Sussex.

It was an unhappy Boxing Day out for the Hawks, a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Sports. Inside five minutes, Boro top scorer Jake Hutchinson scrambled home their opener. It didn’t take too long for Joe Oastler to nod one back at the back post from a Clifford corner. But after the restart, despite the Hawks looking the more likely, it was an unmarked Perez to slot one past House and take all three points home.

Paul Doswell will be hoping this illness passes, because that on top of injuries mean the squad is thin. Oscar Gobern came off with a knock on the Boxing Day clash, so again, it’ll be a case of counting heads at training.

The Hawks sit 22nd in the form guide, which is undoubtably their lowest of the season after just winning one in the last five. Although, they do sit top of the away form. The Hawks are the only side in the top six levels of English football to hold that streak. It’ll be important to enter 2023 with winning ways and perhaps make a habit of it, with Dartford playing Ebbsfleet on NYD, it could be down to who wants it more.
