The Hawks host Slough Town at the Draper Tools Community Stadium to kick off the National League South 2022/23 season.

Havant and Waterlooville will be looking to start their season strong, and Paul Doswell’s new recruits are bound to make an impact to improve on last year’s finish. This year’s league, however, will see a host of new teams as the National League South moves back to the usual 24-teams. Competitive as always, the Rebels will prove a stern test – the Hawks picked up just one point from the two matches against them last season.

The Hawks enter the match following an up and down pre-season stint – two wins, four draws and two losses. The two losses were, however, against football league clubs. What is promising though, is that Paul Doswell’s side provided a brilliant performance against National League outlet Aldershot Town.

Slough Town finished their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win over an Arsenal XI. In total, the side saw four wins, two draws and two losses. A familiar face returned to Slough over the summer, Guy Hollis, following his departure from the Hawks. They have also brought in Johnny Goddard from St Albans, Elliot Benyon from Oxford City, and James Dobson from Hemel – among a couple of other names.

They will both be looking to start the season strong. The last time the sides met, it was an afternoon in February when the Hawks took the trip to Arbour Park. It was a 1-1 draw, ex-Hawk Alfy Whittingham scored the equaliser to cancel out Jackman’s opener.

It is set to be a tasty affair and an ideal way to kick off the season at the Draper Tools Community Stadium!
