The Hawks looked to find a goal in the first minutes of the match, Katie Bundy came driving down the right wing of the pitch cutting in taking a shot that was saved comfortably by the keeper. Soon after, AFC Stoneham began to push forward at the Hawks back line keeping all the possession, Chloe Melton had an attempt from the edge of the box which Chloe Simmonds got down to keep the ball out the Hawks net. The AFC Stoneham attack continued to keep the Hawks defence on their toes especially between Chloe Melton and Susani Lucas, the striker took her chance from the centre of the box that went straight into the keeper’s hands. After playing the ball around the Hawks half, Kim-Billy Hier found a gap in the visitor’s defence and played a fantastic through-ball through to Chloe Dark who took a shot from the edge of the box, but Lucy Venables tipped the ball out for a corner.

 

The home side thought they took the lead when Bundy whipped the ball into the box and Rosie Willis firing the ball on to the cross bar; cleared out by the Stoneham defence. Soon after the missed chance from the home side, AFC Stoneham found the lead with Lucas getting on the end of the through-ball getting one on one with Chloe Simmonds, bending the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. The visiting side were out to find a second goal before half-time with some excellent link-up play between Melton and Lucas again opening the Hawks defence, Melton looked to catch Simmonds off-guard with an early strike that flew into the gloves of the keeper. Rosie Willis almost found an equaliser on the stroke of half time; Chloe Dark found a gap in the visitors’ defence and played a great pass through to the striker, but the chance gone begging as the shot misses the frame of the goal.

The Hawks began the second half eager to find an equaliser, the home side won a free kick on the edge of 18-yard line. Chloe Dark stepped up to take the shot on firing the ball but saved by Venables. Soon after, Stoneham continued to try gain advantage piling the pressure on the Hawks defence, but the Hawks found the equaliser from Chloe Dark thanks to an excellent cross by EJ May that found the head of the midfielder and fired the ball in the top right corner of the net.

 

As the Hawks found the equaliser, three minutes later the home side were in front as EJ May lobbed the ball over the Stoneham keeper getting the supporters off their seat celebrating the quick turnaround. The league leaders attempted to hold off the offensive line of the Stoneham attack but was short lived as winger Leah Webster struck the ball into the near corner of Simmonds’ gaol making scores level. As the game was ending, the visiting side found their third goal as Susani Lucas slotting the ball past Chloe Simmonds. The Hawks’ unbeaten start to the league had come to an end after the referee blew the whistle for full time.
