Havant & Waterlooville will make the trip to Grosvenor Vale tomorrow to face a Wealdstone team who are sitting pretty at the top of the National League South table.

The Hawks currently sit in 3rd spot after only losing one out their previous 11 in the league. In addition to this fine form in the division, Paul Doswell’s team also qualified for the next round of the FA Cup after a solid 2-1 win against Taunton Town. They now face Hadley FC at Westleigh Park with a place in the fourth qualifying round at stake.

Saturday will no doubt be the biggest game of the season so far for The Hawks as they look to close down the 10-point gap that exists between themselves and the home side.

The Stones have without a doubt enjoyed an incredible start to their campaign after winning 10 games in the league, their only loss coming on the second game week of the season in a narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Dulwich Hamlet.

Dean Brennan’s team will be a strong outfit to beat but with both sides looking to win the league it is going to be a fiery encounter.

The Stones have come across a form that has seen them become the team to beat in the division at the moment, they have seen a significant improvement on last season where they finished in 7th.

Paul Doswell has an array of firepower at his disposal this season so there will be goal threats to deal with all across the field. The Hawks defence has also proved to be extremely reliable as they have also only lost one game this season.

The Hawks manager has given his thoughts prior to the encounter and insists it is a huge game for both teams: “I think you can’t underplay this one, I think it’s a big game for both sides.

“You don’t win the league or lose the league that’s for sure over what happens Saturday, but if they go 13 points clear it will make it more difficult, but as I keep reminding everyone we were 26 points behind Ebbsfleet in November when I was at Sutton and we overhauled that.

“So, as I said it’s not season defining but it is a good game one that we’re looking forward to. Two good teams, we have watched them a couple of times.

“I think both teams will be attractive in the way they try and play, Wealdstone flood in numbers and so do we, so I’m expecting some goal mouth action and a good game, and I think that is important.”
