The Hawks looked to find an early goal in the first minutes of the game, Millie McNamara whipped the ball in from the left into the feet of debutant Emily Wernham who struck the ball into the hands of Amy Jenkins. The home side looked to respond after giving away an early chance, striker Charlotte Keenan with a bullet header was fired over the bar, giving both teams’ defence something to be wary of throughout the game. The Woking attack began to start dominating the play giving the Hawks back line a struggle to gain possession, Keenan whipped in a cross that was cleared by Kim-Billy Hier to the edge of the box; the home attack played the ball around eventually finding a gap to get the pass to captain Kaitlin Howard who struck the ball but saved comfortably by Chloe Simmonds.

 

McNamara and Wernham continued their exceptional link-up play down the left side of the pitch that made a gap in the Woking back line, Emily Wernham got through one on one with the keeper, but her shot was saved at the near post. That chance to go in front was soon regretful as the home side found the opening goal of the game by Keenan who took her chance from inside the box finding the top right corner of the goal. Woking continued to attack almost finding a second goal after Kaitlin Howard’s strike narrowly missed the frame of the goal; the Hawks countered and finally found an equaliser by Katie Bundy as she fired the ball from the right side of the box into the bottom left corner of the net. As the Hawks expected to go into half time equal, it was short lived as the home side responded instantly finding the lead once again in the last couple of minutes of the first half with Howard finding the bottom left corner of the Hawks’ goal.

The Hawks found themselves with a penalty in the 48th minute after the Woking defence were grappling on to Jodie Burchell after given a warning by the referee, Burchell stepped up to take the penalty, but the shot was kept out by Amy Jenkins to keep the home side in front. The visitors continued to find an equaliser after EJ May took her chance from distance which was tipped on to the bar with Emily Wernham at the ready for the rebound, but the keeper made a double save to keep Woking in front. The Woking skipper Kaitlin Howard was searching for her second goal of the day after being a handful for the Hawks defence all game, Howard was too strong for Kim-Billy Hier shrugging her off the ball to give space to take a crack at goal, but the ball floated over the bar.

 

Bundy troubled the full backs for most of the game and in the 65th minute, her and Jess Key linked up on the attack finding space for key to run into to get a chance at finding the equaliser, Key took a chance at goal from the edge of the box; saved by Jenkins. The home side widened the score line when Helen Ogle struck the ball past Simmonds from the centre of the box putting Woking 3-1 up in the match. The Hawks defence collapsed and conceded a fourth goal after a thundering volley from Kaitlin Howard found the top left corner of Simmonds’ net to give Woking at 4-1 win at the end of the game.
