The Hawks have completed the signing of experienced holding midfielder Oscar Gobern following his departure from National League side Dover Athletic at the end of last season.

Gobern came through the ranks at Southampton before going on to represent the Saints first team. He was part of the squad that won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy back in 2010.

Since then, the 30-year-old has played for Huddersfield where he won promotion from League One to the Championship in 2011, Mansfield and most recently National League sides Eastleigh and Dover Athletic.

The midfield player who was capped by England at u19 level, had this to say upon his arrival: “When a club shows ambition and they want you as a player, yeah it’s a no brainer to help the team progress.”

Manager Paul Doswell said: “To get a quality player like Oscar Gobern to come in in the right area of the pitch which we need at the minute, it’s a fantastic addition to the squad.”

Everyone at the Hawks wish Oscar Gobern a warm welcome to the squad and can’t wait to see him in action.
