Anthony Straker vows to the Hawks fans that he will give everything to the cause at Westleigh Park this season.

Straker joined the club at the start of the season having signed from Bath City in the summer.

Getting into the National League South team of the season last year, his goal is to play a key role in what he hopes will be a successful season for the club.

Speaking after the 1-1 National League South draw against Dartford he said: “I’m trying to give it my all.

“We (the squad) want to go out there, get the points, do well this and give the fans something to shout about and enjoy on the back of a not so good year last year.

“The gaffer here has brought in a good side and bought into the way that he wants to play and as a team we’re doing well of it.

“You could say we’re disappointed because we want to win and do well every game but we’re doing well, getting there and gelling well as a team.”

Straker is very modest when it comes to setting targets, his minimum requirement is maximum effort, but he hopes that the Hawks will be in the mix as the season goes on.

“For myself, it’s about doing well, playing as many games as possible, and try to stay in the team.

“Everybody knows we are here to do well, try and get promoted, but we take every game as it comes.”
