From the Manager

Havant and Waterlooville manager Paul Doswell is looking forward to the test that Slough Town will provide ahead of tomorrow’s National League South clash.

The two sides will go again after the game last month was abandoned with 20 minutes remaining with the Hawks leading 2-0 at Westleigh Park.

With the previous encounter out of the system, the gaffer still acknowledges the edge tomorrow’s game will have, especially with second playing third.

He said: “Emotions were running high after the original game, we felt it should have carried on but they obviously felt it shouldn’t but Wednesday night sees the conclusion of that particular game.

“For two or three days people were talking about it (the abandonment) and was annoyed about it, but as time goes by you tends to go out of your thoughts.

“Tomorrow’s just another football match, I’ve got total respect for Slough as a club, certainly for Neil and John and I know most of their team.

“It’s got to be considered as just another league game, but obviously from our point of view we want to get something out of it otherwise we’ll feel aggrieved if you didn’t after what happened in the first game.

“Realistically it’s just another game and the angst from the first game is gone from me anyway, it’s gone and I don’t want to see any silliness from it either.”

Both sides are playing catch up to Wealdstone who top the National League South table, with victory for either side helping them reduce the gap to the stones at the top.

“I read a comment from Neil Baker saying they’ve won 35 points from their last 42 so they’re on a good run.

“It’s not season defining, we’ve said that before, but obviously all these teams will want to get closer to Wealdstone and stop them from getting too much further away from us.”
