Havant and Waterlooville FC are delighted to announce the signing of Jake McCarthy

McCarthy joins the Hawks after departing National League side Weymouth. This represents the midfielder’s second spell with the club following his short stint at the Draper Tools Community Stadium back in the 2015/16 season whilst on loan from Bournemouth.

The 25-year-old came through the Cherries’ ranks before going on to represent the Hawks and Maidstone United on loan whilst most recently Weymouth. Where he helped them win promotion to the National League last campaign via the play-offs.

After spending over four years with the Terras, vice-captain McCarthy went on to make over 150 appearances as well as guide them to two promotions respectively.

Following his arrival, he said; “It’s great to be back on a permanent basis, there’s been so many positive changes here. It’s great to be a Hawk!”

Hawks manager Paul Doswell said; “I’ve always liked Jake, he’s a pleasure to talk to. When we were aware he was available, we were very quick to talk to him. He’s an excellent midfielder and it’s great to have him sign with us.”
